Hi All,

This is a revision of this poem. Hope it works better.

I DO NOT WISH TO DIE......
--------------------------------------

I do not wish to die in Spring
when flowers bloom
and birds chirp.

Nor do I wish to go in Summer
when days are warm
and nights are soft.

Nor do I wish to die in Autumn
when leaves turn
and please the eye.

Winter is the time to go
with the sighing
of the trees,

a simple passing like the leaves
in blast of cold North wind.

Remember me when Spring comes round
when flowers bloom
and I'll return.

hope you don't go in winter either!
it has its own ethereal beauty!
you last rhyme contains a very metaphysical notion of life's wheel : a
deceased body in this life joins itself to a circle in which the
elements become reconstituted-not sure u meant that but... that is what
heard and I the personally believe!
Verrrry evocative language througout. Hope the meloncholia is fleeting
and that u find joy in all seasons!

Indeed, it does.

I'm glad that came through. I believe it as well.

Thanks for your kind comments. I wasn't really feeling melancholy when I
wrote this. I was just thinking about all the seasons of the year and what
joy I find in them. I'd hate to miss a one of them, but, of course, sooner
or later, I'll have to.

Thanks for your comments. Yeah, it would be nice if we get to continue
writing forever and continuing the journey would be wonderful, IMO.

Hi Marg...

How have you been? I stumbled on this newsgroup in search of better
things. Been a long time since I graced rec.arts.poems...and it looks
the same...

Good to see you.

Angel! Good to see/hear from you as well. It's been a long time.
I'm good. Still writing and working on my poetry. Hope that you are too.

Now THIS reads like poetry!
Please forgive me, but I'm going to re-shape your lines just a tad, as an
experiment...

I personally HATE winter funerals. And if you do die in the winter, should
we bury this text along with you?
(Good pun at the end, by the way!) :-) As a serious comment, you could
easily turn this into a standard Haiku, and it would take on a much stronger
existence.

I would prefer if it were read at my funeral. I'm sure I can find someone
who would do so. I too hate winter funerals but at least, given the
weather, they are appropriate. Much worse, IMO, is a June funeral. It just
ain't fitting, ya know?

I may do that. I'm having some trouble with this one. It's had several
incarnations and this is only the latest one. It still doesn't seem *right*
to me. Perhaps a haiku would be better. I don't know. I'll work on it.

It's *ALMOST* in haiku format already. If you re-fashion it, I'd be
genuinely interested in reading it at that time.
